Bettmeralp Bahnen (BAB) views itself as nature’s ally. For one, the cableways make it possible for many people to get closer to our natural surroundings and to experience the unspoiled quality of landscapes exposed in all their beauty. For another, the company is also intent on conserving, preserving, and looking after nature, which of course also serves the company’s interests as well.
In the current year, we have invested over CHF 200,000 in conservation & landscape preservation.
Reintroducing nature
The period of major improvements left behind quite a lot of residual waste. Unneeded construction roads and routes are continuously being closed and residual waste such as foundations and construction debris are being disposed of.
Ecological guidelines for construction projects
Inventories of ecologically valuable areas such as marshes, lakes, and botanical rarities are consulted for guidance when planning new cableway routes. We comply with soil conversation guidelines.
Forest & wildlife refuge areas
The forest & wildlife refuge areas are shown on the ski area map. These zones are also identified on the notice boards at the cableway stations with corresponding information. Violations may incur penalties.
PET Recycling
We have expanded the collection sites. Several PET receptacles have been provided in our main buildings, permitting waste to be sorted for disposal.
Thermal insulation
The front of the main building for the 6-person chair lift has been extensively fitted with thermal insulation.
Other information to note:
No additives are used with the snow-making equipment.
